The Exotic Car Poker Run 2014 was an amazing culmination of exotic cars and a great cause. The Poker Run is hosted by the Ferrari Club of South Florida and located at our partner company, Lamborghini Miami. The cause went to benefit the American Cancer Society. The winner of the Exotic Car Poker Run 2014 was Nick (Orange UGR Lamborghini Gallardo) with an Ace high heart flush. He won a 2 night stay at The W with a spa package PLUS a Ferrari loaner for the weekend and more. That Aug. 10 event in South Florida raised nearly $7,000 for Hospice of Broward County Foundation and featured 65 exotic cars including Ferraris and Lamborghinis, organizers said.
The idea for the fundraiser came from Fuoco Group, an accounting and business advisory firm that has offices in North Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Kendall. Fuoco executives knew of a similar poker run in the New York area, where the company is based on Long Island’s Happaugue. Fuoco reached out to businesses that often are its partners for events, including III Forks Prime Steakhouse and Cantina Laredo restaurants in The Village at Gulfstream Village in Hallandale Beach.
The run began at Ferrari-Maserati of Fort Lauderdale, where car owners registered, picked up their first poker card and were offered a catered breakfast. Next came a buffet at III Forks, a party at Cantina Laredo next door and entry to a private box to watch horse races at Gulfstream Park. Some races were named in honor of the poker run, said Krysta Lyon of Fuoco’s marketing team, which helped organized the event. Participants paid $100 each for the poker run, which started at 8:30 a.m. and ended late afternoon for those who stayed to watch the races.
